Interests Water and energy cycles from the thermocline to the lower stratosphere.

Work

  • 2012.01 - present
    Associate Professor of Atmospheric Science
Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University
I study the atmospheric water and energy cycles, atmospheric transport, atmospheric composition, and large-scale climate dynamics. I supervise graduate students and teach graduate-level courses.
    • Tenured since January 2018
  • 2011.08 - 2011.12
    Research Scientist V
Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin
I conducted research on atmospheric transport and composition, particularly in the tropical upper troposphere and lower stratosphere. I worked directly with graduate students and assisted with organizing group meetings and activities.
  • 2009.11 - 2011.05
    Postdoctoral Research Associate
Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge
I worked in the Atmospheric Dynamics Group to characterize influences of clouds on the transport of water vapor and chemical pollutants into the stratosphere.
  • 2006.09 - 2009.09
    Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics, Columbia University
I worked within the research group of Prof. Adam Sobel developing and employing techniques to diagnose water vapor transport in general circulation model simulations and observational data.
